The Library of the Prime Ministers Museum and Library is one of the foremost research libraries in the country for the study of modern and contemporary Indian history. Established as a core component of the institution in 1966, the Library supports advanced research and scholarly inquiry across disciplines related to India's political, social, economic, and cultural development. The Archives
The Prime Ministers Museum and Library (PMML) came into existence on 1 April 1966. One of the principal objectives of PMML was the promotion of original research in modern and contemporary Indian history. To achieve this objective, PMML established the Archives, which was created to acquire, preserve, classify, and maintain primary and non-official source material for research. The Archives was initially formed with the acquisition of two collections viz. Jawaharlal Nehru papers and the All-India Congress Committee papers.

Center for Contemporary Studies
The Centre for Contemporary Studies (CCS) was set up as an advanced studies unit of NMML in 1990. It was established for the promotion of research on modern Indian and contemporary history. It offers three levels of research fellowships -Junior Fellow, Fellow and Senior Fellow to scholars engaged in advanced research. The three research areas in which fellowships are granted are 'India: Recent Historical Trends and Developments', 'India in Transition: Issues and Challenges’ and 'India and the Wider World'. The CCS also offers fellowships like Atal Bihari Vajpayee Fellowship, Academic Research Translation and Book Writing Fellowship and NMML Visiting Fellowship.
